Royale Union Saint-Gilloise has been fined €3,500 for the use of fireworks by their fans during the Croky Cup final. This occurred in the 18th, 68th, and 96th minutes of the match, with at least 27 fireworks being set off in total. The club argued during the hearing that it was a high-stakes match with more fans than usual and that they are doing everything possible to avoid such incidents. Despite these arguments, the Committee decided to impose a lighter fine than originally sought by the disciplinary body. The initial request was for €5,000, but the final fine was set at €3,500. For their opponent, RSC Anderlecht, it is still unclear what punishment awaits them, as their fans used a much larger amount of pyro that did impact the match. The case for Anderlecht was heard on Tuesday, June 9, and a decision on their punishment will be announced at the earliest next week. Royale Union Saint-Gilloise remains committed to ensuring a safe and sporting environment for their fans.
